Plain-language summary: TextRay AI performs OCR locally. It does not upload captures or extracted text, use analytics, or contact a hosted OCR service.

Data processed locally

The extension may process a visible-tab screenshot, a selected page region, already-visible image pixels or a local image data URL, extracted text, confidence data, saved templates, and user settings. This processing supports capture, OCR, highlighting, editing, templates, copying, and export.

The extension accesses website content only after the user starts a capture and selects what to process. That content is processed locally for the requested OCR workflow; MeetingScribes does not receive it.

Data collection and sharing

MeetingScribes does not collect, sell, transmit, or share personal data through TextRay AI. The extension has no account system, analytics, advertising SDK, telemetry service, or hosted inference service.

Local storage and retention

Settings and reusable templates are stored in local extension storage on the user’s device. OCR results and temporary table-review corrections use browser session storage, are bound to the source and review tabs, and expire after 30 minutes. The source result is cleared when its tab navigates or closes; review data is removed when either tab closes. Data leaves the extension only when the user explicitly copies or exports it.

User controls

Users choose each page region that is processed and may cancel a capture before recognition completes. Temporary OCR and table-review data can be cleared by closing or navigating the source tab, closing the review tab, or allowing the 30-minute expiry period to pass. Saved templates can be deleted from the extension’s template manager. Uninstalling the extension removes its extension storage under Microsoft Edge’s normal extension-removal behavior.

Network use

The OCR engine, WebAssembly core, worker, and English trained language data are bundled with the extension. TextRay AI does not download OCR assets from a CDN and does not fetch remote image URLs for OCR. If a website prevents direct access to already-visible image pixels, the extension asks the user to use Area Selection.

Informational website

This product, privacy, terms, and support site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Visiting the site makes ordinary web requests to Cloudflare, which may process request metadata needed to deliver the pages. The extension does not send OCR captures or extracted text to this website. Email support is provided separately and is never contacted by the extension.

Permissions

activeTab

Provides temporary access to the current tab only after the user invokes the extension or its context menu.

scripting

Adds the selection, highlight, and results interfaces to the active page.

offscreen

Runs bundled Tesseract WebAssembly in an extension-controlled document so website security policies cannot block local OCR.

storage

Stores local settings, templates, and short-lived tab results.

contextMenus

Adds user-invoked right-click OCR actions.

Children’s privacy

TextRay AI is a general-purpose productivity tool and does not knowingly collect information from children or any other users.
