Quick fixes

The extension does not start

Use a regular HTTP or HTTPS webpage. Browser settings pages, the add-ons store, and other restricted browser pages cannot be scripted. After updating the unpacked extension, refresh the target tab.

OCR takes too long

Select a smaller, focused region with clear English text. The first scan may take longer while the bundled local engine initializes.

An image cannot be read directly

Some websites protect image pixels from extension access. Choose Area Selection and draw around the visible image instead. TextRay intentionally does not fetch the remote image URL.

The result is inaccurate

Use a tighter region, increase the source zoom, and avoid low-resolution or heavily compressed text. Only English trained data is bundled in this release.

Results disappeared

OCR results are intentionally temporary. They expire after 30 minutes and are cleared when the tab navigates or closes.
